This style of implant is referred to as the “gummy bear” breast implant because it has a higher strength silicone gel cohesiveness compared to that of the smooth round high cohesive silicone gel breast implant.  The thicker shell offers patients less chance of external leaking as well as less wrinkling. However, patients do need to understand that because of these two qualities, the anatomically shaped breast implant is not quite as soft as the smooth round silicone gel breast implant.
