Breast Reduction

Denver, Colorado

Women seeking breast reduction are generally looking for a way to alleviate the physical discomfort of large breasts. Breast reduction surgery has the added benefit of making your breasts more proportional to the rest of your body and giving them a size and shape you will be more comfortable with.

Ideal Candidates for Breast Reduction Surgery

Like any form of cosmetic surgery, breast reduction should not be approached lightly. You are an ideal candidate for breast reduction surgery if you:

  • Suffer extreme dissatisfaction or feel self conscious due to the size of your breasts
  • Experience pain in the back, neck, and shoulders caused by the weight of your breasts
  • Find yourself limited in physical activities or sports due to your breasts
  • Have breasts that are misshapen, or different sizes

Breast Reduction Process

The process for a breast reduction is quick and simple. Denver cosmetic surgeon, Dr. David Broadway will make small incisions in your breast. Through these incisions, breast tissue, excess fat, and skin are removed, and the breast is reshaped to match the contours of your body. Further contouring may be done under the arm with liposuction. Dr. Broadway will then shift your nipple and areola to a higher position, bringing the skin down to further reshape your breast.

Dr. Broadway will work closely with you to help you determine what shape and size you would like your new breasts to be. He will discuss with you whether or not additional sculpting, fat removal, and body contouring may be necessary to achieve the results you desire.

Recovery from Breast Reduction Surgery

After your surgery, Dr. Broadway will apply sutures and bandages to your breasts. Once the bandages are removed, you will need to come into the office on a regular basis to ensure you are healing properly and to avoid any potential problems like infection.

Most patients are able to return to work within a few weeks, and resume normal activities, including mild exercise, within six to eight weeks. Unless instructed otherwise by Dr. Broadway, you can resume sexual activity one week after your surgery.
