If you would like to have some fat reduction in relatively small body areas, SmartLipo™ could be an excellent option. It is a newer form of liposuction that uses a laser technology to break up the fatty tissue before removing it with suction.
By using a laser, SmartLipo gives you many benefits over other ways of doing liposuction, such as:
Not everybody is a good candidate for SmartLipo, but if you are an adult in good general health are not pregnant or nursing, and have already lost most of your unwanted fat, you could be a good candidate.
SmartLipo demands special skill in your cosmetic surgeon. It was given FDA approval fairly recently – in November, 2006 – which means that many cosmetic surgeons are not yet thoroughly familiar with it. For that reason, you should take care in choosing your SmartLipo cosmetic surgeon.
Dr. David Broadway is part owner of the ABS Institute and hosts courses and lectures to national and international surgeons teaching them the safest most effective ways to perform body sculpting procedures such as SmartLipo, VASER liposelection and VASER Hi Def. He is truly one of the most experienced offering Smartlipo in the Denver and Cherry Creek North area.
The laser used in SmartLipo to liquefy fat is not inserted deeply, as it may be in the procedures done on larger body areas, such as tumescent and ultrasound-assisted liposuction or in muscle-sculpting procedures like VASER Hi Def.
It is inserted only into the skin’s second layer, known as the dermis. This insertion is so shallow that Dr. Broadway can see the flashing red light of the laser beam through the skin surface. He can see exactly where it is as he moves it around the treatment area.
Using the SmartLipo laser successfully requires excellent surgical skill. If you had SmartLipo done by a cosmetic surgeon who was not fully trained in it and not totally familiar with the laser movement required, your skin could be burned.
All lasers give off heat as well as light – heat and light are just two aspects of the same energy. Laser light is directional and focused, unlike a flashlight, for example, or your vehicle’s headlights, both of which scatter their light. You can see the difference if you compare those lights with a classroom laser pointer.
Being so focused, laser light concentrates on a small area, and the SmartLipo laser is especially small (just one to two millimeters wide). All medical-grade lasers have ways of controlling the heat, or are created to have relatively mild heat, so as not to burn human tissue, but they still require specific skill in a cosmetic surgeon.
Dr. Broadway has that skill. He is certified by three different medical boards and is an instructor of other surgeons. He is a highly-trained liposuction surgeon and one of Denver’s top cosmetic surgeons.
