Dr. Broadway is in Istanbul Turkey this week as the featured speaker for VASER technology and lecturing on the six pack ab procedure, VASER Hi Def lipo, as well as other cutting edge techniques like fat transfer to the breasts, buttocks and face.

Dr. Broadway was invited by Sound Surgical Technology to lecture and perform surgery in front of 50 doctors attending the seminar.

Dr. Broadway recently returned from a week long trip expanding his knowlegde on the most advanced forms of laser lipo, and then he himself lecturing to other surgoens on the most advanced techniques using VASER technology.

Dr. Broadway elected to visit the office of one of his collegues, Dr. Roger Hogue in Minnesota, to collaborate and expand on the techniques of laser lipo. One of the most popular of facial plastic surgery procedures is a nose job. When you have your nose reshaped to be in better balance with your other facial features, the results can be dramatic.

Rhinoplasty can reshape your nose in virtually any way at all. If you would like a smaller nose, some of the bone and cartilage can be removed to achieve that. If there is a hump that you dislike, it can be reduced. The nose can be straightened, made wider, more narrow, shorter, longer, or more perky. To be a good rhinoplasty candidate, you would need to have good general health with no conditions that might interfere with recovery. You should be over about age 15 so that the nose has fully developed. Dr. Broadway will assess your candidacy when he does a general health exam and looks at your health history.

Rhinoplasty can be done in two ways: open or closed. The difference is in number of incisions. The open method uses three incisions and is best for more extensive modifications to the nose. The closed method uses one incision.

If you have a deviated septum (one nostril wider than the other), you might have some difficulty with breathing at times. A nose surgery can address that problem at the same time as it improves your nose shape and size. It can also address any damage caused by trauma such as a car accident or sports accident. When nose surgery is done for health reasons rather than for cosmetic reasons, it will be covered by your health insurance plan.

Dr. Broadway was recently featured on Extra and skype video commenting on the death of former Ms. Argentina Solange Magnano, who died due to complications after a gluteoplasty surgery, a procedure to enhance and lift the buttocks.

Although rare, complications from any kind of surgery can happen, and should always be considered and understood by a patient before ever proceeding with a surgical procedure. When it comes to plastic surgery procedures there are so many options and so many different plastic surgeons in the industry, how does one know how to make the right choice in a world full of competing claims?

You first need to view both objective and subjective criteria. The subjective criteria being your outside perception of the doctor, the office and the staff. The objective criteria needs to be based on the facts.

First and foremost, a you want to select a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who is certifed by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. There are other cosmetic surgery certifications out there that merely mean the surgeon needs to have only 100 hours of plastic surgery to be certified. A plastic surgeon certified by the ABPS means they have had to have a minimum of 5 years in a specific residency whether it be facial or full body and they have to renew this certification and keep it current.

Second, you always want to look at the surgeons education and experience. Did the surgeon spend several years educating and training or was it merely a crash course that gave them a certification.

Finally, you want to make sure the surgeon you select has a credible reputation and does not have any outstanding lawsuits or malpractice concerns. You want to make sure the facility in which your procedure will be performed is accredited and is measured against the highest standards.

Taxed Proposed on Cosmetic Surgery Procedures

Dr. Broadway was recently featured in The Denver Business Journal to discuss the 5% tax proposal on all cosmetic surgery procedures.

The Botax proposal will highly affect and hurt an industry that is already suffering from the economy. Cosmetic surgeons fear that this unfair tax would force even more patients to reconsider surgical and nonsurgical procedures.

The belief is that only the rich and famous can afford cosmetic surgery procedures when in reality most plastic surgeons will tell you most of their clientele are middle-class women with incomes ranging from $30,000-$90,000.

It's an unfair tax that will affect not only plastic surgeons but will also dermatologists, ear, nose and throat specialists and oral surgeons who offer teeth whitening. Where will the tax stop? Eventually they will begin to tax orthodontics and ANY procedure that could be considered "non-life threatening."

Dr. Broadway and his staff are kindly asking our surgery and skin care patients to contact your Senator and express your disgreement with the cosmetic surgery tax. Congress is singling out this one area of medicine because of a false belief that it's only for the wealthy. Botox is helpful to reduce migraines, IPL laser treatments are preventative pre cancer procedures, and many patients see dermatologists to help reduce or alleviate pesky skin care problems. All of this will be taxed if congress votes yes.

Cosmetic procedures are advancing before our eyes and highly trained Colorado plastic surgeons, like Dr. Broadway, are taking basic liposuction procedures to the extreme and obtaining results we never thought possible. Bill Husted, columnist for the Denver Post, recently wrote about Dr. Broadway and his upcoming appearance on CBS's The Doctor's Show.

Dr. Broadway's segment was supposed to air this Friday at 1PM but unfortunately has been post poned to air until September of 2009.
