VASER ultrasound technology  decreases post-operative pain compared to traditional liposuction. The reduction in discomfort is a result of the innovative technique that defines VASER Lipo.

During the VASER process, tumescent fluid is injected into the treatment site. The fluid shrinks blood vessels and expands the treatment area, preventing less trauma to surrounding tissue and reducing bleeding under the skin. The tumescent fluid makes VASER a gentler liposuction technique, resulting in less post-op bruising, swelling and pain.

Faster VASER Recovery

Liposuction techniques have traditionally required lengthy recovery periods of 6+ weeks. The recovery time required for VASER Liposuction ranges from 3-4 weeks, and will depend greatly on the unique aspects of your surgery. Recovery will be influenced by:

  • Amount of fat removed
  • Number of areas where fat was removed
  • Your body’s response to the healing process

Although down time varies, most people who have received VASER Lipo are able to return to work within 10-14 days after surgery.

Active individuals who receive VASER are often eager to return to exercise and their normal lifestyle, but it is important to be patient throughout the healing process. Most people can return to work and light activities in 2-4 weeks, although heavy lifting is discouraged. You can fully return to your normal activities (such as exercise) after four weeks. It is important to note that, although you may be fully recovered after four weeks, you will not see the total results of your liposuction for a few months.

Minimal Post-Op Pain and Discomfort

Recovery from VASER Lipo is exponentially less painful than traditional liposuction. During VASER, tumescent fluid is used to shrink blood vessels, preventing bleeding and minimizing post-op bruising.

VASER Lipo is an ultrasound-assisted technique. After the injection of tumescent fluid, a probe is inserted in the incision that emits ultrasonic vibrating energy. The ultrasonic energy heats up and liquefies selected fat cells. The emulsified fatty tissue is then easily removed.

In comparison, older techniques are much more aggressive because the fat is not liquefied prior to removal. Instead, the surgeon inserts an instrument through the incision and passes it back and forth to break up amorphous areas of fat. This method tends to lengthen recovery times because it causes trauma to the surrounding tissues and blood vessels. Post-op bruising and swelling are greatly increased with the traditional liposuction technique.

You may see immediate results from VASER Lipo, and you will see optimal results about 12 weeks after your surgery. The technique permanently removes the fat from your body, but it is not a weight loss solution and you can gain the weight back after surgery.
